There is more evidence for stichic use of heptasyllables ofthe form - x - v v - x, x - v v - v -, and x - v - v v -, occasionally in iambic contexts. But these all show sequences of longs and shorts that are rare or unexampled in the Saturnian. Thomas Cole 54 also called a paroemiac, which shows the form � - v v - v v - � . In some ways these paroemiac metres provide a better analogue to the Saturnian than does the iambic dimeter.
