Ringbone was sired by Crofts' Partner, who was also the sire of Morton's *Traveler. *Mary Gray was not only a fast race mare but also the dam of well-known sprinters. Some who were by *Janus were Wyllie Jones's Blue Boar, Thomas Eaton's Club Foot, and John Goode's Poll Smiling. Other descendants include Polly Williams by Mark Anthony, Red Bacchus by Old Bacchus, and Polly Flaxen by *Jolly Roger. *Selima was an even greater mare than *Mary Gray, as shown by the influence of her produce on the running Quarter Horse.
